Our Curriculum

With reference to the Primary School’s STELLAR approach, our core-curriculum lessons are based on Literacy Approach (Story-based). We hope to instil in our children greater exposure and love for literacy by incorporating fun-filled activities and integrating all subject areas around the selected storybooks appropriate for children of various ages. We endeavour to incorporate learning activities that will not only help to better prepare our children for primary school, but also to develop inquiry and comprehension skills and character development from in-depth study of characters and topics found in the storybooks, e.g. The Rainbow Fish, The Little Red Hen, The Little Engine That Could, etc. Meaningful activities will be planned in line with the selected stories through games, songs, dramatic play, etc. Teachers are given a list of core books that are appropriate for their respective classes. The length of time taken to complete each book may vary according to children’s interests. Thus, some levels may cover more books than the other. Nevertheless, parents will be kept informed on the books your child has covered at the end of each term.

At the end of their preschool years with us, we aim for each child to be able to speak with confidence, read with fluency, and write with clarity. As a Christian preschool, we hope for each child to know how special they are in God’s eyes, and to journey on to spread God’s love, so that they can be the light wherever they are.

Our Teachers

We believe in employing staff who share our vision and are also versatile in making learning enjoyable and meaningful for children. All our staff are Singaporeans or Permanent Residents. Besides being professionally trained at certificate, diploma or degree level, every staff is a professional in his/her own way, bringing with him/her years of experience in that specific area of expertise. Everyone works together as a big family, and are always ready to lend a helping hand to one another.

We believe in training the next generation of teachers, and thus have been hosting student-teachers from various institutions, such as NIEC, Polytechnics and universities.

Testimonials

I like working here because the management cares for the staff’s welfare. Leave is easily granted and this is important when we (staff) have personal things to attend to. The colleagues here are cooperative and friendly. The environment in the school, especially the church grounds has a sense of security. I like the way the management allocate working Saturdays. We have many Saturdays off to do things we couldn’t complete on weekdays.

We are ever thankful to God for leading us to a wonderful school like Bethel Preschool. When we first placed our child in Bethel Preschool when she was 2.5 years old, we were very grateful to her dedicated and caring teachers who took very good care of her, especially during her first few weeks in school. The teachers gave us frequent updates on her transition, and provided photos of her in action during lessons, lunch and nap time. The teachers’ dedication gave us the assurance that our child is in very good hands in Bethel Preschool.

The school has well-planned programmes in its curriculum such as outdoor play, water and sand play, Gymastics / Sports enrichment programmes, etc. The playground in Bethel Preschool is spacious and conducive for outdoor play and our child looked forward to outdoor play every day. The teachers in Bethel Preschool are committed to academic excellence and puts in great effort to create resources and design interesting lessons for the students. Parents are also updated every term on what their child has learnt, and are even presented with numerous photos of their child as well as detailed progress reports. I really enjoyed looking through the products and work that our child brought home every term.

What we liked most was the emphasis on character and values education in Bethel Preschool. When I volunteered during school events, I was very impressed by the students’ behaviour. They are obedient and respectful to their teachers and peers. They take turns and use polite words. They greeted the parent volunteers cheerfully when they saw us. There seemed to be a strong rapport between the teachers and their young charges. Bethel Preschool has a very pleasant and calm environment and we believe that the strong emphasis on character development and values in the school has contributed to that kind of environment.

K2 Chinese Teacher

Bethel has a holistic bilingual education which is important for the child as he prepares for primary school as the child takes 2 language subjects (English and Chinese). Being exposed constantly to Chinese education in Bethel, Emmanuel has a good platform to work from and as such, he is able to be streamed to Higher Chinese in Primary 2. I appreciate the teachers’ feedback as they share with us the strengths of the child and areas where the child can work on together with the parents. At preschool age, children are exposed to different types of information. As such, it is important to have a good values system for the child to process the information and see how this information can shape his/her character. The daily praise and worship sessions, devotion sessions coupled with the teachings at home allows my child to have a consistent and nurturing environment for him to grow. It is important as he starts to ask if his faith is real as it can be seen evidently in school and at home.

Bethel Preschool is definitely a reliable centre that provides excellent childcare as well as early childhood education for my kids. It is a great solution for my family. We still remember that the first few weeks for Ziyan and our family were quite challenging. My child was in great stress, having to adapt to a new environment and having to encounter language barriers. She was crying and is unwilling to go to school almost every day. We communicated this problem with her teachers and received much assurance from them, that they will work together with us on this. The teachers have been really helpful, and that helped Ziyan adapt well in school the next few weeks. Besides daily routine, the school’s programme was holistic. By the time Ziyan entered K2, she was able to read, spell and even write many words. It really prepared her well for primary school. She was also able to attend a variety of enrichment programmes within school hours, which provided great convenience to us, saving us a lot of time and effort. I’m very thankful for the effort that the teachers have put in to help Ziyan become an independent learner and thinker. I would definitely recommend Bethel Preschool to all parents who want to give the best care and teaching to their young kids.
